ZMQ is a ‘Technology for Development’ social enterprise which creates practical technology linked tools & solutions to empower communities by providing timely information and connecting them with life-saving services, thus achieving sustainable development. ZMQ works on three basic social issues – healthcare, education and livelihood generation using mobile technology but a very special focus on healthcare.
ZMQ’s mission is to create practical technology linked mHealth tools & solutions to empower communities by providing timely information and connecting them with life-saving services. ZMQ is intended to provide affordable healthcare services and solutions to rural and marginalized communities to enhance their lives, thus increasing their standard of living using mobile technology. There is a huge gap in provisioning information and services to rural, under-privileged and isolated communities. Technology can bring in transformative changes by substantially improving accessibility, affordability and effectiveness of social programs, thus enabling human development. ZMQ’s theory of change is to provide “information & services” to isolated, marginalized and rural communities in a timely and accessible way, which often makes difference between life and death.
ZMQ’s mission is to provide affordable services and solutions to rural and marginalized communities to enhance their lives, thus increasing their standard of living using mobile technology. ZMQ’s key approach is “High Impact – Low Cost” model, recognized world-wide. Our objective is to bring down the cost per beneficiary under one rupee, which we have successfully retained for years by keeping it to Rupee 0.40 to Rupee 0.55 (40 to 55 paisa) for all of our scaled up projects. The key to the success of ZMQ programs is accessibility, affordability and effectiveness. This is why ZMQ is often referred as “One Rupee Technology Organization” based on GANDHIAN MODEL.
ZMQ works in various sectors like Maternal Child Health, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Polio and Mental Health. ZMQ’s theory of change is to create ‘technology linked community model’ which is inclusive of all beneficiaries thus making them take control of their information; and connecting them with public health services.
Using this Technology for Development approach, our objective is to reach to more and more people (in millions); provide them with new communication and information tools; connect them with more public health services; enable services in various critical health domains; create more community health workers to reach more people; partners with more government networks in various states in India; partners with International Agencies for its scale in LIC and other developing countries; see more and more models being adopted by other organizations world-wide; and see improved health indicators in the areas of intervention.
